The short version

This site asks before it measures anything. Google Analytics loads only if you say yes, and sets cookies only then. Bookings run through Oracle Hospitality, which sets its own cookies when you open the booking window. Fonts and images are served from this site, and there are no maps or social media widgets.

Online reservations run on Oracle Hospitality’s booking system, which opens in a window over this page. So that the booking button can open it, every page loads a small piece of booking software from Oracle. When you open the booking window, Oracle sets cookies to keep your booking session working, and what you enter there goes to Oracle and to us so that we can make your reservation.

Measurement

Nothing that measures you loads until you choose. On your first visit this site asks. If you choose No thanks, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is loaded and no cookies are set — not the tag, not the request that fetches it.

If you choose Yes, the site loads Google Tag Manager (GTM-KFSVPJLG), which runs Google Analytics 4 (G-N2XEPP6B95). Both are services of Google LLC. They set cookies in your browser — _ga and _ga_N2XEPP6B95 — and Google receives your IP address, your device and browser, the pages you view and how you arrived here. Google handles that under its own privacy policy.

We use this to understand which pages are read and how people find the hotel. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

A Global Privacy Control signal is treated as a refusal and is never overridden by an earlier yes. You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the foot of every page; your answer is kept in your browser’s local storage rather than in a cookie, so recording a refusal does not set the thing you refused.

What this site collects

Our pages are static files. There is no account to create and no newsletter to join, and apart from the booking window there is no form. If you telephone or email us, we hold what you tell us in order to answer you and to run your booking.

Our web host keeps ordinary server logs for security and reliability. Those are retained for a short period and are not used to build any profile of you.

The booking window

Online reservations on this site are provided by Oracle Hospitality’s OPERA Cloud Booking Engine.

On every page, your browser downloads Oracle’s booking software so that the booking button can open the window. As with any request to a website, that tells Oracle your IP address and that you are visiting this site.
When you open the booking window, Oracle sets cookies that keep your booking session working. If your browser blocks them, the window may not load, and you can book with us by telephone on (415) 225-6600 instead.
What you enter in the booking window — your name, email address, phone number, home address, stay dates, any special requests, and card details to guarantee the reservation — goes to Oracle and to us in order to make and hold your reservation, and to send you a confirmation.
Oracle monitors how the booking window performs, using a performance measurement service from Akamai, the network Oracle uses to deliver it.
Oracle’s own privacy terms apply to what happens inside the booking window.

What we hold when you stay

To take and honour a reservation we hold your name, contact details, payment card details, stay dates and any preferences or requirements you have told us about. We keep this for as long as we must for accounting, tax and legal purposes, and then we dispose of it.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Third parties

Online bookings made on this site are handled by Oracle Hospitality, as described above. Bookings made through a travel agent, a booking site or the global distribution system reach us through those companies, and their own privacy terms apply to what happens on their side. Payment card processing is handled by our payment provider; we do not retain full card numbers.

Things kept in your browser

If this site shows you an offer in a panel over the page, it notes that in your browser’s local storage so the same offer does not reappear on every page you read. That note is a counter and the offer’s name — nothing about you. It is not a cookie, nothing is sent to us or to anyone else, and clearing your browsing data removes it.

Your rights in California

If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to delete it, to correct it, and not to be treated differently for asking. To exercise any of these, write to reservations@unionsquarehotelsf.com or call (415) 225-6600. We may need to verify who you are before we act, which is a protection for you.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes we will change the date at the top of this page. We do not send notifications about it, because we have no list to send them to.
